Focuses on defining and understanding the five most common civil actions brought against investigators. Beginning with an overview of the different types of criminal and civil law, it then focuses on intentional torts such as false imprisonment, defamation, and malicious prosecution.

This session will give attendees a basic grounding in finance and allow them to view financial statements from a management perspective. It begins with an introduction into accounting that explores the purposes of accounting, the sources for its rules and organization, and the limits of accounting. Next, we differentiate between cash- and accrual-based methods of accounting. We then examine the three basic types of financial statements - balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement - and how they are interpreted.
