Quick Response (or "QR") Codes are like the bar codes that you find on packaged goods in stores. QR Codes, however, are designed to be read by mobile devices such as smartphones. When photographed by a QR Code app, they take the user to a website that has additional information about the item being scanned.
But don't take our word for it. Let the CSI team explain it:
What's the point?
Printed media has many limitations, most notably a limited amount of space and static content. QR Codes allow print media to link to additional information. For example, a printed menu in a restaurant might take users to a web page containing detailed nutritional information.
How does this apply to LP?
QR Codes help to solve two obstacles in creating a truly effective awareness program: incenting and measuring participation. As part of a comprehensive awareness package from Contact, Inc., embedding a QR Code on your program components can :
tell you how many employees "clicked through" to the web page,
allow you to present a short online quiz or additional information,
associate participation with program incentives,
enable you to bypass your internal I.T. department (no waiting on a project list!)
