Jim Lee, CEO

  Jim Lee is the President and Executive Editor of Loss Prevention Magazine. The Magazine is now in its 10th year of operation and is viewed as the premier educational publication for the loss prevention professional. The Magazine currently has a circulation of over 45,000 on a bi-monthly publication cycle. The most recent educational initiative by the Magazine was the sponsorship of a loss prevention Certification program. That has led to the creation of The Loss Prevention Foundation of which Lee serves on the founding Board of Directors. Lee has over 30 years of practical experience as a retail loss prevention executive. That includes the senior position with The Broadway, Lazarus and Marshall’s. He is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Forensic Studies and Sociology. In addition, Lee is the founder and current President of Contact, Inc., a consulting and training company and www.lpjobs.com, an e-recruiting platform for LP professionals seeking employment.

 

Amber Virgillo, Executive Vice President

  Amber Virgillo joined Contact Inc. in May of 2009 as the vice president of client services. Previously she worked for a loss prevention technology company specializing in account management and building technology solutions to meet the demands of loss prevention practitioners. Prior to joining the loss prevention industry four years ago, Virgillo specialized in creating strategic marketing campaigns for publicly traded companies. Virgillo also spent several years serving as the spokeswoman for multiple companies both in a public relations agency and corporate setting. Her specialties include building targeted communication plans, public relations, advertising strategies, special event coordination and executive media training. Virgillo is actively involved as a public relations and marketing volunteer for the Loss Prevention Foundation. She has completed the basic Wicklander-Zulawski interrogation course. Virgillo is also a contributing editor to LP Magazine. She holds a Master of Arts in communication from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of North Florida.   

 

John Davidson, Vice President of Operations

John Davidson brings thirty years experience in the areas of loss prevention, safety, and investigations to Contact, Inc. In his role as Vice President of Operations, Davidson oversees and directs all operational issues. Prior to joining Contact, Inc., Davidson spent twenty years in retail loss prevention including regional and area positions with IKEA, Marshalls, The Broadway Department Stores, McCrory Stores, and Jefferson Ward. After honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Davidson started his career in law enforcement as a Police Officer in Memphis, TN and Criminal Investigator for the Shelby County Government, also in Memphis. Davidson attended Auburn University and Memphis State University. He is a Certified Instructor for the Wicklander-Zulawski Interview and Interrogation Techniques course.   

 

Karen Rondeau - Vice President of Creative Services 

Rondeau joined Contact Inc. in 2004 and is responsible for the company’s training and awareness program development to include creative direction, overseeing the technical writing process, business plan development, margin and revenue projections, and client account management.  With Rondeau’s strong retail background she brings a strong customer service approach to the team, understanding the real-life challenges of retail environments.  She also conducts client planning sessions and creates program enhancements including associate incentive programs, enhanced print capabilities, and strategic consulting. Karen Rondeau spent a large portion of her professional career in retail loss prevention at Woodward & Lothrop, Inc. (a former Washington, DC area department store), Lord & Taylor, and Bloomingdale’s.  During her 12 years at Bloomingdale’s Rondeau was the Corporate Loss Prevention Trainer with the responsibility of administering training to all loss prevention personnel. She developed and ran the loss prevention awareness programs, wrote loss prevention policies and procedures, and developed loss prevention training and development programs for different levels of loss prevention personnel.  Prior to that, Rondeau worked in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the Washington College of Law at the American University in Washington, DC.   Rondeau holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Consumer Economics from the University of Maryland.   

 

Justin Kemp - Creative Operations Manager

Justin Kemp joined Contact Inc. in September of 2010. Kemp’s role is to coordinate all operations regarding creative components for each client including creative theme, copywriting, design, printing and fulfillment. Kemp also has responsibility for electronic portal operations for each client. Prior to joining Contact, Kemp has several years of management experience in a retail environment. He is currently a volunteer for the Loss Prevention Foundation to promote membership and certification within the industry. Kemp attended East Carolina University where he earned a B.S.B.A. in Marketing, and is also enrolled in the LPQ certification course.  

 

Amy Carpenter, Copywriting Director

Amy Carpenter is responsible for all written content for Contact Inc.’s training and awareness programs. In this role, she utilizes the latest industry research and best practices, as well as individual client collateral to create educational messages that communicate to readers in an engaging, exciting, and interesting manner. She also proofreads and edits all materials before publication to ensure compliance with accepted standards of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage (according to Associated Press Style). Carpenter has been writing about loss prevention, awareness, and safety at Contact, Inc. for the past nine years. Previously, she worked in non-profit public information, serving as Director of Communications for The Salvation Army in North and South Carolina for five years. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C., Carpenter has a B.S. in Communications with a minor in English. After graduation, she honed her written and verbal communication skills in the broadcast industry as a radio news director, reporter, public affairs director, announcer, talk show host, and voice talent.  

 

Ricky Coursey, Creative Director / Photographer

Ricky Coursey has been with Contact, Inc. since 1999 and has been designing creative material for the loss prevention industry for the past 11 years. Prior to joining Contact, Coursey spent five years as a graphic designer for a leading print company in South Carolina.  Coursey is a graduate of Lander University with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, and a minor in Photography.

 

Jack Trlica - Creative Consultant

Jack Trlica is editor and publisher of LossPrevention magazine, the first trade publication focused on retail LP professionals. Prior to launching the magazine in 2001, he was associated with Pinkerton for eight years, where he built an award-winning creative department that produced innovative internal awareness programs for retailers and corporations focusing on loss prevention, safety, security, and ethics and compliance issues. During his time with Pinkerton, he managed the awareness programs for multiple major retailers, including, Home Depot, Saks Fifth Avenue, Family Dollar, Talbots, Ann Taylor, Belk, Tiffany and others. In addition to his current role at the magazine, Trlica provides his eighteen years of loss prevention experience to Contact, Inc. as a creative and strategy consultant.  

 

Frank Johns - Consultant

Frank Johns has over 35 years of experience in the retail industry, which includes a dynamic blend of loss prevention and store operations executive management.  This experience has influenced his philosophy of developing a store-centric approach to loss prevention.  His career consists of many strategic positions:
  • Senior Vice President of Stores, Loss Prevention, Audit, Ethics and Compliance with A.C. Moore, a regional craft retailer
  • Vice President of Global Loss Prevention for Office Depot
  • Director of Loss Prevention and Internal Audit for Mervyn’s Department stores
  • Various positions at Montgomery Ward including District Manager for stores in Los Angeles, National Retail Marketing Manager for Furniture, Store Manager, etc.
  • Audit Committee Member on the A.C. Moore Board of Directors
